Meaning
Thermal detection devices measure infrared radiation without requiring cryogenic cooling systems, enabling compact and cost-effective thermal imaging. The trade in uncooled infrared sensors is subject to export control regulations and bilateral supply agreements that define the permissible frame rates and resolutions. Commercial contracts specify the sensor parameters, such as pixel pitch and thermal sensitivity, to ensure they match the requirements of the security or industrial monitoring application.
Distributors must verify the end-user certificates before releasing the sensors to the buyer.
Distribution Condition
Distribution contracts for thermal sensors include strict territorial restrictions to comply with national security laws and export regimes. The manufacturer grants the distributor exclusive rights to sell the uncooled infrared sensors within a specific geographic region, provided the distributor meets annual sales quotas. If the distributor fails to meet these quotas, the manufacturer can terminate the exclusivity or reduce the discount rate.
These clauses protect the manufacturer’s market entry strategy.
Quality Guarantee
Sensor quality is guaranteed by rigorous testing of the thermal sensitivity and pixel defect rates. If a shipment contains more than the allowed percentage of defective sensors, the distributor is entitled to a full replacement or credit. This warranty reduces the financial risk for the distributor when launching the product in new markets.
Training Obligation
The manufacturer must provide technical training to the distributor’s support team. This ensures that the distributor can handle first-line service obligations without relying constantly on the manufacturer’s engineering team.
